Course Description | This intensive seminar explores the European Union’s internal and external commitments to human rights. Students examine the legal foundations in EU treaties, the role of EU institutions, and the implementation of rights-based policies in areas such as migration, non-discrimination, trade, and development. The course also investigates the EU’s multilateral human rights engagement with the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, and other regional bodies. Through readings, discussion, and a final essay, students critically assess the EU’s effectiveness as a global human rights actor. |
