| Course Description | This course examines how social media platforms, healthcare apps, and other digital technologies shape women’s lives, with particular attention to issues of surveillance, privacy, and power. Through readings, discussion, case studies, and guest speakers, students will explore how algorithms and data systems can reproduce and amplify social biases, especially those affecting women of color. Throughout the session, students will engage in critical analysis and creative problem-solving, developing thoughtful responses to ethical challenges in digital spaces. The course also considers how digital tools can be reimagined to support gender equity, strengthen women’s health and well-being, and open pathways for civic engagement, advocacy, and interdisciplinary careers. |
